Overnight insights
- The New Zealand track cycling team picked up their 7th and 8th gold medals to finish the track cycling part of the games with 8/20 (40%) of the gold medals on offer, and 8/16 (50%) of the non-para events. (Australia also got 8 gold medals on the track to complete antipodean dominance).
- At the time of publishing (7am, Tuesday 2nd August, 2022), the New Zealand Team overall has 12 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze = a remarkably high 52% of medals being gold so far.

- No women’s Decathlon and no men’s Heptathlon

- Men do 110m hurdles and women do 100m hurdles
- Swimming
- No women’s 1500m Freestyle and no men’s 800m Freestyle
- Various Para event differences, e.g. no women’s Para 100m Backstroke S9 and no men’s Para 100m Freestyle S9

- 10 weight classes for men. 6 for women.

- Women only. No men (likely hard with existing international men’s programmes, but they could have sent other players as happens in the Olympics with football.)

- Women’s individual pursuit is 3km. Men’s is 4km.
- Women’s point race is 25km. Men’s is 40km.
- Women’s time trial is 500m. Men’s is 1000m.
- Women’s Scratch Race is 10km. Men’s is 15km.
- Artistic gymnastics
- 8 medals for the men. 6 for the women
- Women don’t do Rings, Pommel Horse, or Parallel Bars.
- Men don’t do Balance Beam.
- Women have Uneven Bars. Men have one Horizontal Bar. (There are anatomical reasons for this decision).
- Rhythmic gymnastics
- 6 events for women. None for men.
- Netball
- Women only. No men.

“The 2022 Commonwealth Shooting and Archery Championships was to be held as a separate event in Chandigarh, India in January 2022. The number of events held and the medals won in the championships would have been counted in the final number of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
