- We’ve focused today’s fact on Core Crown Tax Revenue and Core Crown Expenses.
- This is the most common comparison used to show Government revenue and expenditure
- It is also the expenditure figure used in annual budgets
- We will research Other Crown Revenue in the future. This will require a series of questions to Treasury to better understand the complexity behind the calculations, e.g. SOEs.
- We’ve shown dollar values to help Kiwis better understand Crown/Government budget sizes, and to show the budget overuns. In future facts, we may also measure these numbers as a % of GDP.
