Notes:

  • We have not shared political party or political leader questions in this fact today as these are the headline stories that are released immediately and get significant media attention.
  • We have shared all other questions asked in May by 1 NEWS Kantar and Newshub-Reid. These are asked at the same time as the specific voting questions, but are drip-fed into news releases over the following weeks.
  • We did not share polling results for other research companies for the following reasons:
    • Roy Morgan = provides great demographic voting breakdowns, Government confidence, and consumer confidence metrics, some of which we’ve shared before, but does not ask other supplementary questions outside of the regular political time series questions.
    • Taxpayers’ Union Curia = their supplementary questions are behind a paywall and hard to find elsewhere.
    • Talbot Mills = private research which is not shared publicly.
    • Horizon =  produce an omnibus after each poll, but this is not publicly released either.
  • We placed Newshub Reid’s results first because:
    • They had the two highest results one way or the other with 69% saying the Government is not doing enough for literacy/numeracy and 68% saying we should ban vaping.
    • The 1 NEWS Kantar polling used a mix of response options, e.g. Oppose, No, Worse, Less, and also Don’t Know vs Same, so the UX was better if that was placed at the bottom of the graphic.
  • 1 NEWS Kanter results were rounded to whole numbers.
  • Newshub-Reid results were sometimes given in whole numbers, sometimes in decimal places, and sometimes only the Yes and No results were given and we had to calculate the Don’t Know result in the middle.
  • All numbers are provisional and subject to revision.
