Covid cases by status in New Zealand as at 28th February 2022:
Status | Total cases |
---|---|
TOTAL CASES | 100,821 |
Active | 82,433 |
Recovered | 18,332 |
Hospitalised | 1,364 |
ICU | 70 |
Deceased | 56 |
- 82% of all of New Zealand’s cases since the start of Covid are still currently Active
- Hospitalised and ICU are double-counted within either Active, Recovered, or Deceased. We have asked for better data to understand these proportions for all resolved cases, e.g. what % of cases end up in hospital and ICU.
- Most people in ICU with Covid have died with Covid. 70 ICU cases (5 currently at time of writing), and 56 deceased (not all deceased were in ICU, of course, and we are seeking that data too).
- The mortality rate is 0.3% if we use the deceased / (deceased + recovered) formula. This mortality rate has been decreasing rapidly under Omicron and is expected to drop further again as more Active cases become resolved.
