- We have not sighted the original source data but figured it was ok since this was a fun fact between Christmas and New Year, and https://www.nzicecream.org.nz/industry.htm also lists NZ as #1 (and Australia and the US s #2 and #3).
- https://www.businessinsider.com.au/global-ice-cream-consumption-per-capita-2013-1?r=US&IR=T suggests that this data might be from 2012.
- We were unable to find more recent global data (and felt like a summer holiday eating ice cream rather than spending hours researching it more).
- https://www.statista.com/statistics/596114/per-capita-consumption-of-ice-cream-in-europe-by-country/ lists Europes (2020) top ten consumers per capita as Belgium (16.2 Kgs), Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Finland, Italy. All European countries are well behind New Zealand’s consumption per capita at these numbers.
